Dr. Diego Zilio received his Doctorate Degree (Sc.D.) in Experimental Psychology from the University of São Paulo (USP) at São Paulo in August of 2013. Zilio’s dissertation focused on the synthesis between behavior analysis and neuroscience. During this period he was a visiting scholar at the Georgia Institute of Technology. He also holds a Masters Degree in Philosophy of Mind, Epistemology and Logic from the State University of São Paulo  (UNESP) at Marilia. Zilio’s master’s thesis provided a radical behavioristic perspective about the main problems in contemporary Philosophy of Mind. As an undergrad, he has a License in Psychology from the State University of São Paulo at Bauru. He is currently Assistant Professor at the Department of Social and Developmental Psychology and Permanent Professor at the Graduate Program in Psychology, Federal University of Espírito Santo, Brazil. He has been and currently is advisor of several undergraduate and graduate students. Dr. Zilio is the head of the GEPPSAC – Behavior Analytic Social Psychology Research Group. He has published papers in a number of different journals, including The Behavior Analyst (Perspectives on Behavior Science), Behavior and Philosophy, The Psychological Record, Behavior and Social Issues, Review of General Psychology, Acta Comportamentalia, Brazilian Journal of Behavior Analysis, among others. He has published and organized several books in Portuguese, including The Behavioral Nature of Mind: Radical Behaviorism and Philosophy of Mind and, with Kester Carrara, the three-volume series Behaviorisms: Conceptual and Historical Issues. He is the general editor of Acta Comportamentalia, and associated editor of Brazilian Journal of Behavior Analysis, Perspectives on Behavior Analysis and Themes in Psychology. He has served on the editorials board of Behavior and Philosophy and as invited reviewer for several journals including Perspectives on Behavior Science, The Psychological Record, Behavior and Philosophy, Review of General Psychology among others. Dr. Zilio develops philosophical, conceptual and historical research concerning behavior analysis, discussing topics such as the nature of mind and behavior, the relation of behavior analysis with neuroscience as well as the relation of behavior analysis with the social sciences. Currently, his main focus of interest is in systematizing a behavior-analytic social psychology.

Former Editor, José E. Burgos, PhD - Volume 45 (2017) - Volume 47 (2019)

 

Dr. José E. Burgos received his PhD in Neuroscience and Behavior from the University of Massachusetts in May of 1996 (Advisor: John W. Donahoe). Burgos’ dissertation focused on a computational approach to the evolution of Pavlovian conditioning that combined a neural-network model and a genetic algorithm. He also holds an MS in Experimental Analysis of Behavior and completed all course credits of an MS in the philosophy of science, both at the Central University of Venezuela. As an undergrad, he has a License in Psychology from the Andrés Bello Catholic University, also in Venezuela. He is currently Full Professor at the Graduate Program in Behavior Science of the Center for Behavior Studies and Investigations, University of Guadalajara, where he teaches courses on Brain and Behavior and Philosophy of Science. He is also invited professor at the Graduate Program in Philosophical Studies at the University of Guadalajara, where he teaches Philosophy of Mind. He has been and currently is advisor of several graduate students. He also develops experimental research to test novel predictions from a neural-network model of Pavlovian and operant conditioning with animals, in addition to research on the philosophy of psychology. Dr. Burgos has published papers in a number of different journals, including Journal of the Experimental Analysis of Behavior (JEAB), Behavioral and Brain Sciences (as commentator), Behavior and Philosophy, Behavioural Processes, Psycoloquy, International Journal of Comparative Psychology, and Mexican Journal of Behavior Analysis, has published numerous book chapters, and has been editor of several books. He was editor of the Mexican Journal of Behavior Analysis (2000-2004). He has also presented papers at conferences worldwide, including SQAB and ABA. Dr. Burgos has been recognized with several awards, including the Jalisco Secretary of Education Award for contributions to the design of psychology undergraduate curricula, the Mexican Secretary of Education Professorship Desirable Profile, the Mexican National Research System (Level II), and various research awards from the University of Guadalajara. He has served on the editorials board of Behavior and Philosophy and the Mexican Journal of Behavior Analysis, and as invited reviewer for JEAB and Learning & Behavior.
