In this 3-hour event\, CCBS Advisor\, Dr. Julia H. Fiebig will provide behavior analysts and students of behavior analysis with an overview of critical issues in sustainability and how behavioral science is an important contributor to moving towards more sustainable communities. In addition to providing an overview of the work and the research being done in this area and the opportunities we can create in collaboration with other professionals\, Dr. Fiebig will discuss how an understanding of language as it relates to values is critical to building cooperative contexts and communication around issues of sustainability. \nLearning Objectives: \nBy the end of this event\, participants should be able to: \n\n\nIdentify low impact and high impact behavior as it relates to sustainability\nIdentify core issues that are barriers to sustainability\nIdentify opportunities to collaborate on climate change\nIdentify how speaker listener behavior influences the narrative around the culture of climate change\n\n\nPresenter Bio:\nJulia Fiebig\, Ph.D.\, BCBA-D\, is an assistant teaching professor at Ball State University in the applied behavior analysis program. She is from Germany and resides in the San Francisco Bay Area. A practicing behavior analyst for over twenty years\, she has a range of experience working as a consultant and educator with multi-disciplinary teams in clinical\, educational\, and other non-profit and private organizations. She has served on task forces for ABAI and ACBS and currently serves on the board of the Behavior Analysis for Sustainable Societies special interest group and ABAI’s Practice Board. Julia is one of the directors of Luethi-Peterson Camps\, a non-profit volunteer organization facilitating international summer camps\, to foster good human relations and healthy community by bringing staff and children from various backgrounds together. A primary emphasis of her work is helping leaders and organizations cultivate values-informed\, consensus-building\, prosocial practices and sustainable systems. She is dedicated to work on issues of environmental justice and contributing to wider application and dissemination of a compassionate behavior science. \n*This event is FREE for the general public.
